discovering hidden stories along ancient lanes. Back at the temple, listen to the ethereal sounds of gagaku court music, reviving the tranquil spirit of the former temple grounds. Participate in guided local sake tastings watching gorgeous pagoda stone illumination before enjoying a thoughtfully prepared dinner made from seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients including miso paste invented by Gango-ji monk in the old days.

Immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere of the historic temple as the head priest offers insights into its rich legacy. 14:20–16:00 | Guided visit to Gokurakubo Hall and Shoto-in Temple ruins with the head priest. Follow in the footsteps of history through off-limits temple areas, usually closed to the public. 16:00–17:00 | Gagaku (ancient court music) performance at the temple pagoda foundation. Enjoy a live performance of Japan’s oldest classical music, surrounded by the peaceful temple setting. 17:00–18:00 | Local sake and non-alcoholic tasting with pairing canapés by a French chef, served at the pagoda foundation. 5PM JST) will incur a 50% cancellation fee.Cancellations after that will be charged 100% of the tour fee.
